Septenary Artist Profile: Melissa Sue Stanley
Local artist, kick-ass lady and fellow stout enthusiast, Melissa Sue Stanley can be found at OhNo!Doom on a regular basis and may have even poured you a beer once or twice. She has recently been replanted back in Chicago after a whirlwind watercolor tour of…basically the world, and has broken her hiatus of large scale soft sculptures to bring you one fiendish sprite (and a handful of Baba Yaga’s finest chicken shacks).
The creation of Queen Mab has been well documented and shows all the details that go into Melissa’s soft sculptures. Queen Mab can also rise from her chariot and stand separately if desired.
Pieces for Septenary are available for viewing and purchase through the OhNo!Doom online gallery: http://shop.ohnodoom.com/collections/septenary
And as a special treat…here is a sneak peek at Melissa’s in-progress piece for our next show Adventure Time: A Tribute Show

More images and watercolors can be viewed on her tumblr on a regular basis: http://melissasueart.tumblr.com/
Melissa Sue Stanley is an artist using a wide variety of media to create a wide variety of work. At the moment she’s focusing on watercolor paintings, graphite drawings, and sewn or crocheted soft-sculpture. Her sculptures and stitched monsters are collected internationally and have shown in galleries around the United States. In 2012 she began work on a large series of narrative watercolor portraits. She enjoys making things, expensive beer, and bluegrass -preferably all at the same time. If you come to visit her in Chicago she will probably want to draw your face.
